SPRING 2025 COLUMBIA SPORTSWEAR | ICONS COLOR PALETTE

The horizon stretches endlessly in all directions, as far as the eye can see, with a flat and cracked playa ground underfoot. Parched earth appears as if it’s been sculpted by the hand of time. Its surface etched with intricate patterns of cracks and crevices that weave a complex tapestry of desolation.

The air is dry and still, and the silence is profound. The only sounds are the occasional whisper of the wind as it sweeps across the playa, carrying with it the faintest hint of dust. It’s a place where solitude reigns supreme, offering a respite from the noise and distraction of the world.

As the sun sinks lower on the western horizon, the colors of the Alvord come alive. The sky transforms into a canvas of fiery oranges, pinks, and purples, casting a warm and ethereal glow over the cracked earth. The distant silhouette of the Steens Mountains add depth to the scene, it’s rugged peaks a stark contrast to the flatness of the desert floor.

As day turns into night, the Alvord undergoes another dramatic shift. With minimal light pollution, the night sky emerges in all its glory. Countless stars twinkle overhead, and the Milky Way stretches across the horizon like a river of diamonds. A celestial spectacle that draws stargazers from far and wide.

In this remote and harsh landscape, where the extremes of nature are laid before you, there’s a sense of both.

Spring 25 was the first season that I art directed not only the color palette, but also print direction for the Icons collection. Inspired by the wild horses of the Alvord Dessert, while also paying homage to Columbia’s iconic landscape prints, the Dusk to Dawn print was born.
